My name is Shiowyun Sue Shih. I was born in Republic of China, Taiwan – a beautiful island of incredible scenic and cultural attractions as well as of recent enormous economic wonder. I have an educational background in Computer/Information Systems, Art, and Sociology. A resume is attached details my educational and professional background.

In these pages, you will be surfing some interesting information in three main categories: Taiwan, My Art Work, and Pottery Tutorial. First you will be introduced my hometown, Taiwan, about its population, geographical structure, weather, and several traditional Chinese culture in Taiwan, including Chinese paintings, architecture, dancing, and cultural calendar.

In the second category – My Art Work, I will share with you the essence and quality of the art work for which I have been searching. I will be having a journey with you visiting some of my ceramic and jewelry pieces which illustrate how I attempted to achieve visual harmony, originality, and fresh interpretation by integrating fresh perceptions and definitions from the natural objects designed by the wonder Creator.

Finally, I will guide you through a series of tutorials showing you how to make pots (preparing the clay, centering, throwing, shaping, etc.) Making things out of clay is spiritually healthy for the soul. From the process of making pots, we can learn not only how clay responds, but also the harmonious relationship between forms of objects and the materials. Furthermore, you can ultimately express your inner feeling through the process. Now, let’s start the journey…
